Won't let singers steal our credit: Meet Brothers

This seems to be the latest mantra for the Baby Doll and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan makers Meet Brothers. Here’s why:

In an era wherein both independent as well as Bollywood musicians feel they haven’t received their due in the industry, Meet Brothers’ approach comes across as a refreshing break from the long running collective vengeance that runs among most musicians and music directors till date.

Strumming opportunism and optimism through their tabla and guitar, they don’t see a point in cribbing on the fact that singers walk away with the credit of a hit song, while music directors like them are robbed of their respective credit. They have rather found a creative solution for this issue.

Meet Brothers, who recently joined Frankly.Me (a first-of-its-kind Q& A platform wherein celebs answer their fans’ questions via video selfies), explained their latest strategy to their fans.

Harmeet Singh, of the duo, stated in the video, “We have changed the history of this country. If you’ve noticed, we are the only ones writing our names before the singer’s name in our songs. For example, ‘Meet Brothers, featuring Kanika Kapoor in Baby Doll song.’ Because hum log ek poora saal mehnat karte hain uss gaane pe. Singers aate hain aadhe ghantey ke liye aur gaana gaa ke chale jaate hain. Main khud ek singer bhi hoon. So, humne socha ki agar hum khud ko tag kar denge – in all our videos on TV and on YouTube – saying ‘Meet Bros featuring Salman Khan in Hangover (Kick)’, toh hamara naam logon ko pata lagega. The audience will know clearly that Salman Khan ne gaana gaaya toh hai, lekin banaya inn logon ne hai.”

“So, now, we don’t have any complaints. Through this way of ours, singers are getting their credit, and we are getting ours,” concluded Harmeet in the video selfie that featured on the social media platform wherein the singer-musician duo had promised their fans that they will answer all their questions frankly.

Head over heels, ‘sound’ in the right ‘track’, looks like this duo has a long way to go. Meet Brothers have recently composed songs for films like Ek Paheli Leela (Desi Look), Kick (Hangover), Ragini MMS 2 (Baby Doll), Pink Lips and many more. Check out all their frank conversations with their fans at Frankly.Me.
