Frost & Sullivan along with Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) is set to host the first edition of 2017 Nepal Business Excellence Awards on November 14, 2017 at Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Kathmandu. The awards aim to recognize companies demonstrating a unique approach to doing business in their respective markets, and companies delivering exceptional performance with a major impact on business and society in Nepal.

The awards banquet will commence with an interactive panel discussion titled "Nepalese companies will be globally competitive by 2022 – An utopic assumption or a possible reality'" moderated by Aroop Zutshi, Global President & Managing Partner, Frost & Sullivan. It will discuss the role of "Business Excellence" in making this vision a reality, along with the challenges for industries, the government policies, infrastructure etc. that will be required to become competitive globally.

Discussing the assessment process experience, Nitin Kalothia, Director, Manufacturing & Process Consulting Practice, Frost & Sullivan said, "The awards through its incisive assessment process will enhance awareness and accelerate the adoption of global best practices in Nepalese companies. This will further improve growth, profitability and competitiveness of the organizations."

The awards assessment framework is designed to keenly assess and highlight focus areas to business leaders that would help them build sustainability in their businesses and recognize companies that have demonstrated deployment of sustainable and investor friendly business models. The evaluation scrutinizes the four core business processes of an organization:

Business Planning

Strategy Alignment and Deployment

Organization Building

Process Management

Processes mentioned above leads to the fifth core element of the assessment procedure – Business Result

The Executive Committee represented by eminent thought leaders and industry experts from Frost & Sullivan and CNI will collectively assess the results of these studies to select the winner, benchmarked against the highest standards in their industry, to ensure the award recipients are best-in-class.

CNI President, Hari Bhakta Sharma said, "The country is heading toward policy stability, leading to steady economic growth and opening up vast investment and expansion opportunities for companies. Therefore, Nepalese companies must adopt internationally accepted systems to boost efficiency, output, competence and corporate culture to stay relevant in the market."

The awards program this year has four major categories of participation based on sales turnover of the businesses: Emerging Business, Medium Business, Large Business and Mega Large Business. The companies participating this year will be across verticals like Manufacturing, Trading, Telecommunications, Airlines, IT&ITES, Hotels, Education Consulting, Banking and Financial Services & Insurance.

Recognition will be given to companies in the four participating categories and separately for manufacturing and service sectors. There will be three distinct levels of Awards, i.e. Silver, Gold and Platinum. The company scoring the highest on the assessment framework amongst all organizations will be awarded the "Super Platinum Award". There will be a maximum of three awards in the three levels of recognition.

About CNI

The apex body of Nepalese industrialists, the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), was established by the captains of Nepal's Industrial and corporate sector on April 17, 2002. Since its establishment, CNI has been raising issues like the persistent economic situation imbroglio, need for reforms in financial sector, strengthening of private sector's capabilities, the streamlining of private sector's initiation on development agenda, double digit growth issues and industrialization based on trade competitiveness. It is an organization that works in coordination with other organizations and is increasingly becoming involved in areas where the existing system has failed to deliver. The organization is working along the lines of several organizations in various developing countries such as India, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. and hopes to hire expertise as well as bilateral support in development of the Confederation, the theme of which is, "Talking Business, Talking Change".
